  The beginning of Kimberly-Clark Corporation

Four young men founded Kimberly-Clark in 1872 on 3 founding principles: Quality, Service and Fair Dealing. Even as Kimberly-Clark has grown into the number one tissue manufacturer in the world, our adherence to those simple values has not wavered. Kimberly-Clark is the second largest consumer products company in the United States with 4 major businesses: Family Care, Personal Care, Kimberly-Clark Professional, and Professional Health Care. Kimberly-Clark sells products in over 150 countries around the world and has manufacturing facilities in 43 different countries.

In 1995, Kimberly-Clark merged with the Scott Paper Company, a major competitor in the tissue business. The merger was considered a significant change in the world market.

History of Kimberly-Clark Thailand

Kimberly-Clark Thailand was established in 1966. The first manufacturing site was built in Samut Prakarn to produce sanitary napkins under the “Kotex” brand. Kotex has been well accepted by Thai consumers.

To handle increased consumer demand, the manufacturing site was relocated to Pathumtani in 1971. The new manufacturing site is located on 37 rai and equipped with tissue manufacturing and tissue coverting equipments. The tissues produced are marketed under the “Kleenex” brand. Kimberly-Clark Thailand merged with Thai Scott Paper in 1996.

Kimberly-Clark has an objective to expand in the Professional Health Care business. In 1999, Kimberly-Clark acquired Safeskin, a leading maker of high-quality, disposable gloves for the health care, high-technology and scientific industries. The Safeskin manufacturing sites are in Songkla. With this acquisition, Kimberly-Clark became one of the largest employers in Thailand with over 10,000 employees.

At present, Kimberly-Clark Thailand manufactures and distributes bathroom tissue, facial tissue, disposable diapers and feminine napkins under the “Scott”, Kleenex, Huggies and Kotex brands. Kimberly-Clark Thailand ’s office is located in the United Center Building on Silom Road
