Summary of Position - Materials & Fundamental Scientist
Scientists at Kimberly-Clark perform materials development and fundamental scientific work employing advanced technologies in absorbency, fibers, non-woven materials, and other fields for design and manufacture of consumer and business to business health and hygiene products. Scientists primarily work at staff research and development locations. A new scientist will typically work as part of a team under the direction of a senior scientist. Project size and financial responsibility increases with experience, including potential leadership of product, process and materials development teams on large research or developmental projects. Considerable interaction with representatives of engineering, marketing, finance, and plant/mill operations is required in meeting project objectives.

Qualifications
|
|
A Bachelor’s (or MS) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical, Pulp & Paper Science or other relevant engineering or scientific degree is required. Research and development co-op/intern or other experience is highly desirable. Scientific candidates possess these qualifications:
- A 2.8/4.0 grade point average or higher is required; a 3.0/4.0 or higher grade point average is preferred
- High Level of Initiative and a Global business perspective
- Ability to provide innovative contributions in a TEAM Environment
- Effective Communication Skills with the ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment
- Mobility to accept varying corporate and manufacturing facility assignments in different geographic regions
- The ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments.
- Application/Results orientation with primary focus on problem definition and generation of alternative solutions
- Customer Focus when dealing with internal and external customers

Summary of Position – Product Development Scientist
Product Developers at Kimberly-Clark integrate consumer insights with technical insights and are intimately involved in all phases of the product life cycle. They provide a stream of innovations, improvements and product improvements that are consumer preferred and which sets Kimberly-Clark in a proactive, market leadership role.

Essential Functions

As an entry level product developer at Kimberly-Clark you will learn to integrate consumer observations, consumer and technology trends and interpret unmet consumer needs. Working as part of a team, you will help translate those into product end benefits, features, and design. Product Developers and must have excellent listening and interpersonal skills in dealing with consumers and other teams at Kimberly-Clark.
Our product development teams have accountability to:
- Translate consumer insights into new product ideas/concepts
- Develop product idea specifications
- Translate those product ideas and specifications into product prototypes
- Evaluate and analyze prototypes
- Collaborate with the technical teams to develop commercially feasible products
- Ensure product features/forms meet user needs
- Support team assessments of potential market and partnership opportunities

Qualifications

|
A BS/MS or BA/MA in an applicable field, including but not limited to Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Apparel Design, or Consumer Science. Research and development co-op/intern or other experience is highly desirable.
Product Development candidates possess these qualifications:
