Working together … our communities are better

For many years, Kimberly-Clark has created successful partnerships with national charitable organizations that share our culture of caring and commitment to improving the health and well-being of families in our hometown communities – and throughout the world.

Working hand-in-hand, K-C and our charitable partners are making a difference in the lives of millions of the world’s families.

American Red Cross
Strengthening families around the world by helping communities prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters is at the heart of Kimberly-Clark’s partnership with the American Red Cross.

Throughout the years, K-C has worked with the American Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts in times of disaster. During that time, K-C and its employees have provided financial contributions, product donations, blood donations and volunteer time to ensure the needs of those affected by devastating disasters are met.

In 2007, K-C pledged $1 million over a five-year-period to support local, national and international disaster preparedness and response programs. These funds will enable the American Red Cross to sustain and create initiatives that will help provide for the basic needs of those who suffer as a result of natural and manmade disasters.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America
For more than 20 years, Kimberly-Clark has supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) mission to bridge the gap between hope and opportunity for millions of the nation’s youth.

In 2005, K-C committed $7 million over a five-year period to create the BGCA’s Family Support Program. K-C’s contribution will enable BGCA to provide family-strengthening activities at Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the country and it will provide parents with local resources and assistance they need to realize their aspirations for their children.

UNICEF
Since 2001, K-C has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), contributing almost $4 million to create and deliver services to the more than 15 million children worldwide who have lost parents to HIV/AIDS.

Studies show that children orphaned by AIDS run an abnormally high risk of malnourishment, lack of education and susceptibility to disease, neglect and exploitation. Kimberly-Clark’s financial support helps provide these children with good nutrition, community care, access to education, grief counseling, legal advice and income generation skills.

In 2005, K-C renewed its partnership with UNICEF for the next three years, pledging $650,000 annually. The company also helped UNICEF raise an additional $4 million through a K-C challenge grant campaign.

United Way
Just like Kimberly-Clark, the United Way of America is focused on caring for what matters most in local communities – improving the health and well-being of families.

Each year as part of our annual campaigns, K-Cers have the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities by volunteering and contributing to United Way organizations coast to coast. We match employee pledges dollar for dollar. In the last decade, K-C and its employees have contributed more than $50 million to United Way, helping to improve lives and build stronger communities.

K-C is proud to be a member of the National Corporate Leadership organization of United Way of America. K-C was honored in 2005 and 2007 with a United Way of America Spirit of America Summit Award, recognizing our charitable contributions throughout the world.

YMCA of the USA
In 2001, Kimberly-Clark formed a nearly $12 million alliance with the YMCA of the USA for programs to strengthen America’s families. Because of this substantial commitment, our company was recognized as the national sponsor of YMCA Family Programs. In 2005, K-C pledged support for two key YMCA family programs: Healthy Kids Day and the Activate America program.

Healthy Kids Day, an annual event at YMCAs across the country, is a free, fun-filled day of activities designed to promote health in spirit, mind and body for kids and families.

A response to America’s growing obesity, chronic disease and health care crisis, the Activate America program is a long-term public health initiative focused on making healthy living a reality for millions of American families.
