Bright Futures: Where Are They Now?
Each year, Kimberly-Clark likes to feature updates on some of the 1,400 past recipients of Bright Futures Scholarships. Let's see what the following seven people are up to today:
Krista Glowacki
Daughter of Henry Glowacki, Mississauga, Ontario facility
Krista, a 2007 scholarship recipient, is attending her first year at the University of Ottawa. She was recently accepted into a new undergraduate program, the Honours Bachelor of Science with specialization in human kinetics. Krista is also a varsity soccer player and recently had the opportunity to play in the Canadian finals in Nova Scotia.
Tim Eatherton
Son of Steven Eatherton, Neenah, Wisconsin facility
Tim, a 1998 scholarship recipient, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned a degree in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science. Today, Tim works within the K-C family as an electrical engineer supporting LDC converting at K-C’s Everett mill in Washington.
Evan Glowacki
Son of Henry Glowacki, Mississauga, Ontario facility
Evan, a 2004 scholarship recipient, is currently completing his final year at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. The scholarship allowed Evan to pursue extra-curricular activities, and he has been an active member of the varsity rugby team throughout his college experience. He is majoring in mechanical engineering and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree of applied science.
Scott Stevens
Son of Daniel Stevens, Mobile, Alabama facility
Scott, a 1999 scholarship recipient, graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in justice and political science. In 2006, he graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law. Scott is now a private practice attorney in Mobile, Ala.
Anthony Cook
Son of Clay Cook, Munising, Michigan former facility
Anthony, a 2003 scholarship recipient, graduated with a business degree from Northern Michigan University, summa cum laude. He is currently working in the finance department for Munising’s Neenah Paper Company (formerly owned by Kimberly-Clark).
Michael Warren
Son of Dave Warren, New Milford, Connecticut facility
Michael, a 1993 scholarship recipient, attended Northeastern University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. In college, Michael worked in K-C’s New Milford facility through the university’s co-op program. He also worked as a paralegal in one of Boston’s premier trial law firms, was a student senator for the college of criminal justice, and was a Tobin Scholar Mentor. After graduation, he entered a career in corporate sales for AT&T. Today, Michael has his own company, GlobeTrend Technologies, a New York City-based system integrator and one of AT&T’s most successful partners.
Kathryn Richard
Daughter of Peter Zerger, Jenks, Oklahoma facility
Kathryn, a 1998 scholarship recipient, graduated from Luther College with a bachelor’s degree in music education. The scholarship enabled her to attend a school where she experienced smaller classes and received individualized attention from instructors. Today, Kathryn is a school teacher in Ohio, where she teaches music classes to 700 students.
Patrick Count
Son of Joe Count, Beech Island, South Carolina facility
Patrick, a 1993 scholarship recipient, was one of the first recipients of the Bright Futures Scholarship. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the first Gulf War. Patrick then attended the University of South Carolina where he pursued a degree in international studies. He returned to the Navy as an officer, served in Japan, studied Russian, earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering, and later became a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. He is currently on the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, headed for the Sea of Japan.
