Kimberly-Clark Argentina Awarded for Community Health Program

During the fifth annual Communicative Social Responsibility (CSR) Prize ceremony held in Buenos Aires in October, Kimberly-Clark Argentina was recognized for its local Posta Sanitaria (First Aid Post) community health program. More than 300 leading companies in Argentina competed for the prestigious award.

Accepting the award on behalf of K-C Argentina were Carolina Scarampi, Chief of Corporate Affairs, Kimberly-Clark River Plate; Fernando Hofmann, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Kimberly-Clark Austral Region; and Josefina Palazzo, Coordinator of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Posta Sanitaria is part of Kimberly-Clark Argentina’s Relationship with the Community Program, +comUNIDAD. The goal of Posta Sanitaria is to improve the health of local residents by providing health care treatment and promoting qualitative changes in people's health attitudes and habits in the Derqui neighborhood of Pilar, a city outside of Buenos Aires. As part of the program, community health agents are trained to detect disorders and illnesses in a timely manner to prevent more serious illnesses from developing.

The Posta Sanitaria initiative was created by Austral University; Pilar´s government; Kimberly-Clark Argentina; and APRED, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that promotes education and sports to improve the quality of life in the community. Through the initiative, Kimberly-Clark Argentina improves the quality of life for the more than 25,000 people of Derqui, Pilar, where the company is located.

Kimberly-Clark employees are actively engaged in this initiative to improve their community, and last August, organized a celebration for Children’s Day at the Posta Sanitaria. Mill employees, along with the corporate affairs team, arranged a fair where children celebrated with Kimberly-Clark employees and participated in various kids’ games.

About the CSR Award

Each year the CSR awards are presented to corporations, NGOs and the media for outstanding actions that benefit the community. The award was created by Guillermo Petrucelli, a reporter in Argentina and an opinion leader and pioneer in raising and promoting community involvement in the media. The award is also sponsored by Juan Carr, Founder and Director of “Red Solidaria” (Solidarity Network), a volunteer organization dedicated to saving and improving quality of life for people around the world.

Voting in the CSR Award Corporate Category included Continental radio listeners, 200 company leaders, and an honorable awards committee made up of prestigious members, such as Mario O’Donnell (Writer and Former Culture Secretary of the city of Buenos Aires and Argentina), Jorge Gandolfo (President of Argentina Advertising Committee), and Gabriel Gonzalez (“Gente” Magazine Director) among others.
