MedShare International and Kimberly-Clark deliver critical medical supplies to Peruvian hospitals
Three Peruvian hospitals soon will be better equipped to tend to the medical needs of thousands of local families and children. Through a partnership with MedShare International, a non-profit organization dedicated to supplying medical equipment to economically developing countries, Kimberly-Clark Peru delivered a donation of more than $284,000 in medical supplies to the Sergio E. Bernales National Hospital of Collique.

Located a few kilometers from Kimberly-Clark’s facility in Puente Piedra, the hospital will receive surgical gloves, feeding kits, surgical lamps, scissors, tracheotomy care trays, catheters, syringes and masks that will benefit the more than 1,000 patients that are treated every day.
In addition, the hospital has decided to share the donation with two other institutions with scarce resources: The Red Túpac and the Hospital of Puente Piedra.
The hospital will receive surgical gloves, feeding kits, surgical lamps, scissors, tracheotomy care trays, catheters, syringes and masks that will benefit thousands of patients.
“It is important to highlight the commitment of Kimberly-Clark Peru to community well-being and to the improvement of the living conditions of Peruvian families,” said Peru’s Minister of Health Oscar Ugarte. “We hope to be able to continue having the support of companies such as this one.”
At the delivery ceremony, Magno Santillana, director of the Sergio E. Bernales National Hospital, emphasized his gratefulness to Kimberly-Clark Peru for its support to continue improving the hospital’s health services and continue treating the thousands of patients in appointments and emergencies.
This is the second donation that Kimberly-Clark and MedShare have delivered to the Sergio E. Bernales Hospital of Collique. The first delivery of medical supplies and equipment valued at $90,000 dollars was made in 2007.
“The company is proud of being able to collaborate with an institution that takes care of people’s health,” said Juan Carlos Belaúnde, Manager of Corporate Affairs for Kimberly-Clark Peru. “Our commitment is to continue supporting this kind of initiatives.”
Since its inception in 1998, MedShare has provided more than $25 million worth of life-saving supplies and equipment to 87 countries. For further information, visit www.medshare.org.
