Community Spotlight: Jenks, Oklahoma
Being involved in local community activities and helping to make Jenks a better
place to live and work come as second nature to Kimberly-Clark employees in Jenks,
Oklahoma. Our employees are involved in a number of community organizations, adding
value to and making an impact on this Oklahoma community. Here’s a summary of some
of our key activities in Jenks:

Kimberly-Clark employees in Jenks take a well-deserved break during Junior Achievement
day at the mill.
-
K-C is a major supporter of National Engineering Week, celebrated in the spring
in local elementary schools. Jenks facility engineers go into third-, fourth- and
fifth-grade classrooms to talk about careers in science and engineering to encourage
the children to study math and science. They conduct experiments and have hands-on
activities to show kids the relationships between what they learn in school and
the “real world.” Jenks employees impact up to 1,000 children each year through
this program.
-
Several Jenks employees are Junior Achievement volunteers, teaching basic economics
and business concepts to fifth and sixth graders in the Bixby School District.
-
Jenks employees support the annual Mothers’ Day Walk benefiting the Tulsa chapter
of the Breast Cancer Network of Strength, a national breast cancer support organization.
Kimberly-Clark and its employees make financial contributions to the event and provide
volunteer walkers. We also staff a Kimberly-Clark booth at the walk event where
we have a product display and give away samples to other walkers and visitors.
-
As part of North Tulsa’s Partners in Education program, Kimberly-Clark is working
with Cooper Elementary School, an area school that serves low-income, at-risk children,
to sponsor activities that will facilitate the education of these children and provide
them with events and gifts they would not otherwise be able to afford. The partnership
began last Christmas when Kimberly-Clark sponsored a visit from Santa and a toy
drive. The relationship has grown into an ongoing partnership with Kimberly-Clark
sponsoring a variety of events and activities.
“Our hearts are still overwhelmed with joy and amazement over all that you have
given us all, and how you have touched the hearts and lives of everyone,” says Rita
Kukura of Tulsa Public Schools. “These have been the recurring words from our teachers:
amazement, surprise, thankfulness and gratitude.”
-
Last year, Kimberly-Clark in Jenks conducted yet another record-setting United Way
Campaign, raising more than $250,000. As part of the campaign, employees spent a
day volunteering their time to paint several rooms at a local domestic violence
shelter. The Kimberly-Clark Corporation matches employee contributions to the United
Way dollar-for-dollar.
-
Kimberly-Clark in Jenks maintains an active Charitable Donations Committee which
reviews requests and allocates cash and product donations to needy organizations
throughout the Tulsa metro area. They focus on supporting education, children with
special needs, or organizations that serve people who are ill, homeless or low-income.
-
Kimberly-Clark employees make contributions to nonprofit organizations of their
choice through the company’s Matching Gifts program. These contributions are matched
dollar-for-dollar by Kimberly-Clark.
-
Our employees also volunteer their time for community organizations. Kimberly-Clark
makes grants of $500 through its Community Partners program to organizations for
which our employees volunteer at least 30 hours in one calendar year.
-

Kimberly-Clark Bright Futures Scholarships – $20,000, four-year scholarships awarded
to students on a competitive basis based on academics, achievements and community
