Sustainability

Protecting the Environment

  • Worldwide, Kimberly-Clark is committed in protecting and maintaining environmental sustainability to promote a better quality of life for all of our stakeholders, including employees, customers and the community.  We always fully comply with environmental protection policies and implement ongoing environmental programs.

Our R3: Reduce – Recycle – Replant program is a good example:

  • Reduce – Products are designed in line with our comprehensive waste reduction program.  This result is longer use and the highest efficiency for our products.
  • Recycle – For some of our products, we combine recycled pulp with premium pure pulp.  This supports our commitment to consume the least amount of natural resources.
  • Replant – We have initiated a wide-ranging reforestation project to revive and protect natural resources while encouraging their responsible use.

We also have a policy of not using pulp from rainforests.  Kimberly-Clark only purchases pulp from suppliers that comply with environmental regulations and have their forestry operations certified by a recognized forestry authority.

Our manufacturing processes do not use chemicals that can harm the environment or consumers.  For example, we do not use chlorine in our tissue-making process or buy chlorinated pulp.  Using chlorine for bleaching has been proven to generate dioxin, which can harm both people and marine life.

Each year, we have a solid goal in reducing energy use and are committed to developing high-quality wastewater plants. Our wastewater plants have been recognized as among the top plants in Thailand and are used as a model for other companies nationwide.

Supporting our Community

As we care for the communities where we operate our business, Kimberly-Clark strictly complies with all public regulations and supports environmental projects, including the use of sustainable natural resources and energy saving policies. We regularly participate in a wide range of social activities, including donations to foundations such as the Thai Red Cross and Care for Children in Slums.  We also offer scholarships for students in Thailand and conduct educational activities on personal hygiene for students.
